Domain names is a must when creating a professional or personal website. A domain name is a unique name that identifies you in the world wide web like howtopublishawebsite.org.
Domain names come in a variety of extensions for example .com, .net, .org, just to name a few. Currently, .com's are the most sought after. It will be very hard to find a domain name consisting of one or two common words (ex. www.creditcards.com) as these are most likely taken.
What I would suggest is that you use your name for your personal website or come up with something unique like youtube, facebook, and google. Create a brand that will be easily identified as your website when you think of that domain name or see a certain logo.
Be careful when choosing a name with number like 2shoes.com as the number 2 to others might be spelled out like twoshoes.com when heard from another person.
